Short press release:
Prime are an explosive band from the east midlands, uk.
DESCRIBED BY THE NUSIC WEBSITE AS "ONE OF THE BEST LIVE BANDS" IN THE AREA AND BY NOTTS TV’S MARK DEL AS “A BAND YOU MUST SEE LIVE IF LIFE OFFERS YOU THE CHANCE… LEAD SINGER LEE IS AS COMPELLING A FRONT MAN AS YOU WILL SEE”.
they supported Electric Six at the o2 Academy in Sheffield, and indie classics Space and Dodgy, and Their debut single ‘To Be Or Not To Be’ was featured on Christian Carlisle’s BBC Sheffield radio programme, described by the host as “a great track.” Prime are rebellious and entertaining in equal measures.
the band decided to stop playing live, and their final show was in front of 700 people at the winding wheel, a listed hall in chesterfield, derbyshire after 4 years of solid gigging. the start of 2021 saw a digipak cd release of their compilation 'art/facts'. their last single, guitarist chris d. bramley's composition, "sorry", was released december 2021. 'bye bye prime' is another track from the same session, recorded at ratcat studios, nottingham.
Press / Radio Quotes About Prime (uk band):
"Can I just say, wow...
(a) kick up the arse... kicking off strong with some loud guitar and vocals, you’re hooked from the first chord... the song is raw and exciting. If you mixed the catchiness of (previous Prime track) ‘IOU’ with the melody and vocal power of ‘Bye Bye’ then you’d have pretty much the perfect track."
"Prime are bristling with momentum. Fresh off the back of support slots with venerable veterans Electric Six and Space, the Nottingham/Sheffield alt-poppers have the world’s good graces on their side, pulsating with confidence. 'Bye Bye'... a single tailor-made for prime-time radio airplay... Brisk and breezy, it is endowed with a vivid and punchy sense of urgency. Everything bursts in at once as slick, coruscating guitars jitter over tightly delivered drums. Cleverly employed harmonies really enhance the crystalline poppiness... an especially clever counterpoint to Heir's concise, jauntily-delivered vocal. It feels like theres is something wicked bubbling under the surface." - David Crouch / Ben McElroy, Reyt Good Music Sheffield
"Their sound is a tantalising concoction of heavy riffs, powerful drums and socially acute if not slightly anarchic lyrics. Brash and bold, a great energy live." - Anna Butler, NUSIC
"The Notts rockers (use) a melting pot of influences from a cross section of Brit pioneers to formulate a sound that grows on your consciousness with every playback. Fronted by the indistinguishable flamboyance of front man Lee Heir with his infectious vocals... (This release) firmly solidifies their status as one of the hardest working bands this city has seen. A luscious combination of the ska infused tracks of The Clash... with catchy yet innovative guitar and heavy hitting rhythm... It's (a) heavenly sweet vibe..." - Jack Garofalo, Wordplay / Left Lion
