Before Lee and Chris Munton embarked on their live journey as Prime, they worked for the majority of 2014 as an acoustic duo entitled The Steady Sound. Here are some shots of the two.
Lee: "We had some great times as The Steady Sound, we were both getting back into live music after a couple of years of not playing at all with our early bands. Chris had been in a punk band and I'd played live with some good local musicians, finding my feet. Weirdly the last gig I'd done had been to around a thousand people at Zappanale (Frank Zappa Festival) on the same bill as Alice Cooper, so to get back down to the nitty gritty of open mics and small pub gigs was a weird challenge, but a challenge nonetheless, and one which we thrived on. After many ropey gigs where we honed our vocal sound together it started to gel and we ended up doing acoustic gigs and all-day events all over the place. The songs were mainly Chris's, they were very straight up ballads, political songs, or songs about people and their emotional struggles, and I thought they were pretty good. We'd chuck in the odd cover by the likes of Leonard Cohen or The Beatles. The harmonies we came up with here (and many that were discarded as weren't good enough) ended up being a foundation for the Prime backing vocal sound that became a little different to all the other rock bands that were around when the Prime live thing got going properly in 2015. We certainly stood out vocally and musically as the combination was different, you knew straight away that you were hearing a Prime song because of it."
